![]() But even though they both have a normaled mode, it seemed like it might be easier to get those sounds out of the V3. Part of that 'musical' quality might be the third oscillator. I was comparing it to Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms SV-1b, and the Erebus sounded more 'musical' to me while the SV-1 more raw. To be honest, this is how I would primarily be using it, but I don't love the idea of it being less flexible for future setups. So, I guess the reason it gets mentioned frequently enough, but not widely, is that it is a popular 'first synth' kind of device that is being used via MIDI more often than CV. That said, the CV input has a very limited range where it will scale accurately I haven't used the NYX but on paper it pretty much seems like the Erebus V3 except with reverb. If you need something with that Dreadbox sound but more surgical in implementation I can also totally recommend the Typhon. I would view this synth as a big sloppy prog dog of a synthesizer, huge character and lots of fun but sometimes it steers you. ![]() It does work for setting up PWM at least. Definitely would have preferred switches with common mappings. I do not like the patchbay though, not convinced it works properly as far as the clock and CC to CV mapping goes. It's definitely a fun synth dripping with that Dreadbox charisma and the knob layout is spacious which makes it fun to tweak. So in my experience the only reliable way to play this synth chromatically is via MIDI unless you are happy sticking with one octave. That said, the CV input has a very limited range where it will scale accurately (about an octave and a half if memory serves). In practice it is never a problem for me at least. If you let it complete the auto-tuning process when you first turn it on (does not take very long), it stays in tune just fine.
